Cecil the Lion, 13-year-old, was lured out of a Zimbabwe wildlife reserve to be killed by an American hunter on July 1, 2015. Dr. Walter Palmer, a dentist from Minnesota, allegedly paid $50,000 for the hunt. Cecil the Lion was one of Africa’s most famous lions and the star attraction at the Hwange national park. The lion was wearing a GPS collar as part of an ongoing research project, so authorities were able to track his last movements and his final location.
